Level 1 – Getting It!

This introductory workshop is for people just starting out in SLR photography. We will cover among other things:

  • Getting to know your camera
  • Moving out of auto mode – the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO
  • Light! – finding it, evaluating it, using it and modifying it.
  • Basics of composition
  • What makes an interesting image?
  • Basics of workflow – getting your images from camera to print

Level 2 – Nurturing It!

This introductory workshop is for people who know the basics and would like to move a little further to improve their images. We will cover among other things:

  • Working with children – getting them to work with you and capturing those Wow! shots.
  • Location, location, location – finding the perfect spot and working with what you’ve got.
  • Better composition
  • Developing your style
  • Lightroom – and introduction to making the best of your images.

Level 3 – Using It!

This workshop is designed for people who are comfortable with their camera, and would like to learn about how to conduct a client shoot. We will conduct a real shoot from start to finish!

This course will be very hands-on! Ideal for those of you considering making the leap in to your own photography business.

Once our shoot is complete we will take a look at the behind the scenes work that follows. From choosing the best images, to processing them with lightroom to bring out their best and presenting them to the client.

What else do I need to know?

Courses are run on a Saturday from 9am to 3.30pm in North-Western Sydney. There is a large hands-on component to the course, and you will get to try out your new knowledge.

What do I get?

  • A day full of learning, including hands on experience in a small class for individual attention
  • Morning tea & a light lunch will be provided
  • All workshop participants are to practice at home & submit 4 images for in-depth critique.

What do I need to bring?

  • You will need an SLR camera. I have one loan camera available.
  • A notepad and pen for taking notes.

How much does it cost?

  • Level 1 & 2 are $250 per person covering the full day course (9am – 3.30pm) and your 4 image critiques
  • Level 3 is $350 per person covering the full day course and your 4 image critiques
  • Purchase one course and receive a $75 discount on subsequent courses booked at the same time.
